  • Description of Violation: An anonymous reporter alleged that new members were required to eat dog food, crawl on hands and feet, and were insulted by existing members.
  • Investigation Findings: The CIE office conducted interviews with members and was not able to substantiate the report.

  • Description of Violation: An anonymous reported alleged that new members were required to walk around in the cold and participate in mandatory drinking competitions, camping, and scavenger hunts as part of initiation.
  • Investigation Findings: The CIE office reached out to members of the organization and received a response from one member, who did not substantiate the report. Without the participation of more than one witness and considering the scope of the allegations, the CIE Office cannot properly evaluate the allegations or investigate the matter further.

  • Date Violation Charged: November 11, 2024
  • Description of Violation: An employee reported that new members were observed wearing a a Peppa Pig backpack around campus.
  • Investigation Findings: An employee followed up with fraternity leadership and determined that the backpack was a gift, was voluntarily worn, and was not part of fraternity tradition. Based upon these details the observation and alleged behavior did not meet the University's definition of hazing.

  • Description of Violation: An employee report of potential violation of interim suspension due to student's observations of alleged fraternity activities following notice of suspension.
  • Investigation Findings: Matter was reviewed by the University of Pittsburgh Police Department and subsequently closed.

  • Description of Violation: A prospective member reported that he and other pledges were forced to fight each other under the Panther Hollow Bridge until someone was injured. The prospective member also reported forced alcohol consumption.

  • Description of Violation: An anonymous witness reported overhearing two prospective members discussing engaging in an "elephant walk" and other various acts of hazing, which included holding their genitals between elevator doors and allowing the elevator doors to close.
  • Investigation Findings: The prospective members used fictitious names and could not be identified.

  • Date Violation Charged: October 17, 2024
  • Description of Violation: An employee reported possible hazing after a student reported engaging in a scavenger hunt for the fraternity.
  • Investigation Findings: After following up with the organization, it was determined that new members were told about a Phi Gamma Delta plaque that a new member chose on his own to locate. Because this activity was not compulsory, it does not meet the University's definition of hazing.

  • Description of Violation: An anonymous reported alleged that the fraternity incorporated alcohol into their initial rituals and engages in other activities known to be prohibited.
  • Investigation Findings: The CIE office reached out to members of the organization and received a response from one member, who did not substantiate the report.   • Description of Violation: An anonymous reported alleged that Theta Chi is forcing their pledges to drink, wear embarrassing clothing, do lineups, and record TikToks.
  • Investigation Findings: The CIE office conducted an inquiry and after interviews with several members was unable to corroborate the allegations.
