As the Title VI Coordinator, Dr. JW Tabacchi leads the University's efforts to ensure compliance with federal civil rights laws prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, national origin, and shared ancestry. The role includes overseeing the resolution of complaints, providing education and guidance to the University community, and supporting Pitt’s commitment to equitable access and inclusion across all programs and activities.
Prior to joining Pitt, Dr. Tabacchi has 17 years of progressive experience serving in student affairs leadership roles at St. Vincent College, Penn State University, and Point Park University. His career has included serving as Senior Director of Student Affairs, Director of Student Affairs, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Student Development, Director of Student Conduct, Director of Judicial Affairs, and Director of Student Activities, where he has led initiatives focused on compliance, equity, assessment, student success, strategic planning, and organizational effectiveness.
